Collecting summer moments

14 September 2021

In my last post I told you how I devoted myself to the noble cause of getting my computer up to speed, and today I want to share with you the balance of this extraordinary summer in every aspect. It has been really intense, emotional, vibrant and also exhausting... although I expected that with the schedule I had planned, but it has been worth it without a doubt. Do you want to know the moments that have been most special for me? Here I go, but I can tell you in advance that it was great.

There is also time for laughter.

I'll start with the group exhibition that has just been extended at the Vithas Hospital in Aravaca, Madrid, organised by the [H] ARTE Foundation and through El Club de las Mujeres (IN)Visibles, of which I am a member. The reception of this pioneering project in Spain has been fantastic and it has been an honour for me to do my bit with my paintings from the series "Me enamoras". Afterwards I had the opportunity to give an intensive painting workshop to a group of children on a very enriching day, also invited by this club that gives visibility to women artists.

The exhibition in Miraflores de la Sierra was something really incredible for me, with very exciting moments, unexpected reunions and the visit of followers to meet me in person and enjoy my works live. I received the attention of great friends who brought me fresh fruit prepared for mid-morning, some coffee and cakes for a snack and my mother's lunch... I didn't close at midday and it was a good decision, as (with the pandemic still with us) it was important to extend the opening hours to facilitate close and relaxed visits. During the quieter moments, I made the welcome drawings for the Patrons' Club and continued working on the projects that I am now returning to with my batteries fully charged. I would like to thank once again all those who came to see me, and also those who were unable to come and sent me messages with their best wishes. I feel very fortunate that my motto "Art for living" is a stimulus for everyone. I would like to thank again the unconditional support of the sponsors of this exhibition: Ayuntamiento de Miraflores de la Sierra, Grupo BUK, Carpintería AHERJI, Asesores Miranorte and J. Briceño Asesores S.L. The final touch with my exhibition at the closing of Madrid Directo, one of the most emblematic programmes of Telemadrid, was really a gift for the closing day. I would like to thank Verónica Fernández once again for her commitment to promote my work to the media, we will continue to collaborate in the future... because I still have a lot to tell through my work.

Together with Salud, a very special patron.

After a couple of weeks of (relative) rest, I have spent a month of exhibition in Asturias, a land that has welcomed me with open arms since the first day I arrived in Luarca, three years ago, and which seems to have been waiting for me... In 2019 I had an endearing solo exhibition, which allowed me to meet many people and make good friends and this time, with the exhibition that has just ended in La Caridad, in the Exhibition Hall of El Franco, it has happened again. I have received visits from friends who came on purpose from Madrid, others who were spending a few days on holiday in Asturian villages made an excursion to visit it, strangers booked a guided tour and it has been one of the exhibitions with the largest number of visitors this summer. I am very happy to know that they are waiting for me when I decide to come back with new works. Here too the media echoed the event with an interview on Onda Cero, which I shared in a previous post. Thanks to all of you!

The last week has been really intense, working on the projects that I am returning to the studio, organising my space again and leaving the works in place to await the visitors that will be coming from now on. This week I will make pending appointments with those who bought some of the works they generously left me for the Asturias exhibition, I will receive them in the studio and we will enjoy another incredible moment. Visiting my studio is something very personal for me, it is like opening the doors of the space where everything comes from... Thank you for valuing it and sharing with me what my works transmit.

Ah! I want to add that my plants were beautiful when I arrived, although I have quite hardy plants I take good care of them, in winter it's cold and I can't have some that I would like, but seeing how they sprout and grow makes me enjoy the life they give to my studio... I spend many hours there. Will you come one day?

I will continue to tell you more soon.

A hug and thanks for reading me!
